Economics: Bad News For Expats in Singapore
by maltzajava on November 23, 2008
When discussing my future plans with colleagues, they always feel the need to remind me about the poor economic conditions. That’s right, America has sneezed, and even small city-states caught the cold. In today’s paper, the Straits Times reported that firms are cutting down on the number of expats they have working for them.

Amid leaner economic times, companies here are cutting costs and one option is to reduce the number of expats.
At least one employer – Fortis Bank – has asked some of its foreign staff to pack their bags, and the recent job cuts announced by financial giant Citigroup could see more departures.
This story posted on the Time’s website is just a preview of the story, and I am interested to see what she has uncovered. The link to the preview is here, and if I remember, I’ll post the full story tomorrow.
